My Background
As a qualified counsellor and Accredited Social Worker, I have 17 years' experience in community mental health and Alcohol and Other Drug treatment. I have provided training to community clinicians in working more effectively with people experiencing comorbid mental health and substance use disorders. I have developed resources for the sexual health and relational wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ communities and helped develop and implement an early treatment program for young people with disordered eating. I spent several years volunteering with Lifeline as a telephone crisis supporter where I provided immediate and short-term assistance to people with suicidal and/or self-harm ideation. I continue to work with NSW Victims Services providing counselling for a range of traumatic experiences, including sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and childhood abuse of all kinds.
I am trained in and incorporate short-term dynamic therapy, CBT, ACT, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, applied behavioural analysis, mindfulness-based stress reduction, trauma-informed care, and existential therapy. To enhance my work as a Couple's Therapist, I have trained in The Developmental Model of Couple's Therapy, Presence Orientated Relationship Therapy, The Gottman Method, PACT, and Emotion Focused Couples Therapy.
I am also a long-term practitioner of yoga and have completed a 200hr yoga teacher training course. I am an avid animal and plant lover, and occasional amateur potter. I am blessed to live at the foot of Mt Majura where I can often be found walking with my Cobberdog, Alfie.
